Perception is always 100%. If people perceive well of you, they like you, they will want to do business with you. People like to do business with people they perceive as being successful. Have you ever been in a group conversation and someone in the group chimes in about how bad things are going for them and their business? You can physically see people start avoiding them. Don’t be that person. No one wants to do business with someone like that.
The same premise applies for having a winning website. Having an old or outdated website is not going to help your business. And today’s technology has made building and website maintenance much more affordable. Not posting regularly on your social media or not posting engaging content is not helping you either. Again, perception is 100%. If your website is amazing and your social media is top notch, if you are continually posting engaging content, then you will be perceived in a positive light.
Do
- Make sure your website is easy to navigate.
- Have your social media links prominently displayed on your Home page in the top or bottom right side.
- Be transparent about what you do, what you offer.
- Have your image or team image on the About page.
- Make sure your social media links click through to your social media pages.
- Identify your target market. Know how to reach them on social media.
- Be consistent in your posting days and times; watch for reaction and adjust posting schedule to be seen when you receive the most reaction.
- Be clear on your message; educate your audience.
- Give them something of value.
- Tell them why they should want to do business with you.
Don’t
- Make someone work to find out what you do. If your message is not clear they will search other websites.
- Make someone work to find your social media links on your website. Your goal is to drive traffic to your site, not to send them away because they have to leave your site to go verify your existence on social media.
- Make negative posts
- Post political posts on your business page.
